In 1968, amidst the demands of an ever-growing community, a $1.5 million construction project was completed, which added a north and west wing to the main hospital building and increased the total beds to 120.
Eleven years later came another expansion, this time adding three floors to the original building, giving the hospital a total of 159 beds, and upgrading many of the basic services, such as physical, pulmonary and respiratory therapy. The emergency department and operating rooms were enlarged, and the X-ray department and laboratory renovated. This expansion also saw the development of new intensive and coronary care units. In addition, with the additional purchase of the original county health department building, the hospital lobby was remodeled.
